Skillet Street Food

Josh and Danny create delicious gourmet meals made from locally sourced ingredients and served out of an Airstream trailer. The trailer travels around the city serving the cubicle nation their bistro style lunches. They are also available for private events and would be a great idea for parties, company picnics, or even weddings. Check them out here and stop by the trailer at one of these locations to give them a try.

Makeup Inspiration
I am in desperate need of a makeup makeover. I realized this morning that my current eyeshadow has been with me since my own wedding three years ago! And, I have never had my makeup professionally done, even on my wedding day. While there are no excuses, I have always found makeup to be a little intimidating. Having said that, you would think I would jump at the chance to have someone else do it for me. But no, I still insist on doing it myself. So I have decided to set up a consultation with a real makeup artist and get some much needed help. Here is some inspiration from two local talents that also do on-location bridal makeup. If there is room in your budget, hiring a professional is definitely the way to go.

Garden Party

This beautiful garden party for Cy Twombly was held in an actual nursery outside of London. I especially love the mismatched cafe chairs and dirt floor. Petersham Nurseries is the type of place I would love to spend an entire day admiring the flowers and munching on snacks from the cafe while reading the paper and catching glimpses of Stella McCartney. Now I'll be daydreaming about English gardens for the rest of the day...

Real or fake?

Can you believe these flowers are actually made out of clay!?!? They are all hand-made by PetalByPetal and each order can be customized to any flower/color arrangement. They can create bouquets, corsages, favor boxes, hairpieces etc all customized to match the theme and decor of your event. I think it would be great to recreate your bouquet or a centerpiece as a keepsake to use in your home well after your wedding day.

Paper Love

Saw this beautiful invitation suite in the new issue of Inside Weddings. The magazine had an orange/silver combo but I like the yellow even better. Find it online here at KenzieKate invitations. Mackenzie also has a wonderful blog full of wedding/event inspiration here.

Astilbe and Ice Cream
Some inspiration from the July issue of MS Living. I love the feathery, fern-like quality of these Astilbe stalks. Haven't heard of it? Neither had I. But it's lovely.

I finally have an idea of what to do with my collection of vintage glass bottles.
Also from Martha Stewart, here are some yummy dessert ideas that incorporate every one's favorite warm-weather food. Ice Cream Cupcakes and Brownie and Peanut Butter Ice Cream Sandwiches are fun and different option for summer events.

Black, white and green...
is the wedding color palette that I am so loving right now. I think it's the fact that it's a very crisp and clean combination and can work for all different types of weddings. Here is some gorgeous inspiration featured today by Abby over at Style Me Pretty.

Long table inspiration
I pulled together some inspiration for one of our brides who is looking to have long communal tables at her reception instead of the traditional rounds. We've seen this trend, which has been popular in Europe for years, really start to take off recently. Of course this configuration isn't limited to just weddings either.

This is the most beautiful table I have ever seen. It's from the amazing photographer Elizabeth Messina's wedding. I love the mixture of textures with the chic vintage chandeliers and silver vases against the rustic wooden table... so beautiful.

More launch party pics
Joanna from Bamboo Beats sent over some great photos of the space all decked out for the party.
I'm so glad she got some photos of Iska's beautiful cakes because by the time our camera made it over there they were almost gone. And those adorable lace-rimmed dessert plates are courtesy of Sheena from Totally Tabletops.

We've Popped The Cork!!
Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate our Launch Party with us on Thursday. We had a wonderful time and it was great to see so many new faces in addition to our supportive friends, family, and vendor partners. Here are a couple of not-so-good pics from the party (I think our photographer had too much champagne). I'm trying to hunt down some better ones, so if any of you have any please send them my way.
Lumiere Bridal did a couple of very cool wall projections with some of their videos and our logo (this photo does not do them justice). Jonathan and Jaro are extremely talented so check them out if you haven't already.

A view from upstairs - Miki's Flowers created some gorgeous flower arrangements for the night - thanks Miki!
The fabulous Bamboo Beats supplied music for the evening.
Jeanne talking with Dixie Duncan from Seattle Met Bride and Groom. In the background is the amazing cakes by Iska Pallis from Cake. Everyone was raving about how amazing they were and asking us where we found her - we'll never tell ;).
We cannot say enough good things about the lovely ladies from Ravishing Radish. They supplied the wonderful bites for the evening and as usual, the food was delicious and they were a joy to work with.

Pinch me - it's sunny!
We're finally getting some much needed sun and warm weather this weekend here in the pacific northwest. It's amazing how quickly everyone's mood changes when this happens. We suddenly fall in love with Seattle all over again and remember why we live here in the first place - those glorious 3 months of summer! This has me daydreaming about barbecues, refreshing beverages, and outdoor entertaining. Here are some fun ideas you can incorporate into any summer event.
Mint and watermelon mojito. What could taste more like summer than that?
Or, how beautiful is this tub of cherry mojitos? Fresh cherries is one of my favorite parts of summer.
These paper flowers are easy to make and personalize for any party or reception. If you don't have something to hang them from directly overhead use fishing line strung between trees or poles.
Hanging candles and lanterns create a lovely glow as the sun goes down. If only I had a place with a view like this.

Celebrity Weddings
For those of you living under a rock the last couple of days...
Jenna Bush tied the knot last weekend at her parents ranch in Texas. A couple of photos were released to the press on Sunday. Admit it - you're curious. I sure am. Actually I'm more curious to know what it's like to have George Bush as a father.
Her beautiful dress was designed by Oscar de la Renta. What do you think of it? I'm pleasantly surprised that she didn't go with the princess ball-gown look.
From what we can see it looked like a fairly simple but lovely evening. Rather understated for the daughter of the president. View more photos and the whole story on the New York Times.

Spring '09 Runway - Vera Wang
Vera Wang had a lot of amazing detail in the back of her gowns this season. I love the color of this first one.
Look at the detail on this train!
She did a few with this side-train as well.A beautiful, soft Grecian inspired look.

But my absolute favorite has to be this one...

It's chic and sophisticated but the bows and ruffles give it a hint of sweetness. Yes, as you've probably noticed I have a thing for the mermaid silhouette. I think it's incredibly flattering. All images via Brides
